When do futures open on Sunday?

CME Globex futures open on Sunday at 6:00 PM ET (5:00 PM CT), or 4:00 PM MT and 3:00 PM PT. That starts the trading week: ES, NQ and the other equity index futures then trade nearly 24 hours a day until Friday's 5:00 PM ET close. On Sunday, 8 November 2026, Globex opens at 6:00 PM ET (5:00 PM CT).

The open is set on Chicago’s clock. New York and Chicago change to and from daylight saving time on the same dates, so it stays at 6:00 PM ET (5:00 PM CT) all year. Holidays can move it: check the holiday calendar before a long weekend.

Yes, with an early halt. CME equity index futures halt at 1:00 PM ET (12:00 PM CT) for Thanksgiving on Thursday, 26 November 2026, and reopen at 6:00 PM ET (5:00 PM CT). CME publishes no settlement prices that day.
