TakeProfit Trader offers futures evaluations followed by simulated PRO accounts and, for selected traders, live PRO+ accounts. The main differences between those stages are the drawdown calculation, withdrawal conditions and profit split. This review checks the current account structure and rules against the firm’s official website and help center in October 2026.
The important distinction is between being eligible to request a payout and having money arrive in a bank account. PRO permits withdrawals above its buffer without an additional qualifying-day requirement, but the buffer, account rules and payment process still apply. Likewise, passing an evaluation does not make every feature of the funded stage identical to the test.
What TakeProfit Trader is
TakeProfit Trader is a U.S.-based futures funding business. Its official materials describe a test, a simulated PRO stage and a live PRO+ stage. James Sixsmith appears in the firm’s founder materials. A precise founding date and current operating-city address were not confirmed in the official pages available for this review, so neither is supplied as an established fact here.
The products covered here are futures accounts. They should not be described as a forex or stock brokerage account. The displayed account balance is also different from the amount a trader may lose before breaching a rule. For example, a $50,000 test has a $2,000 trailing-drawdown allowance, not $50,000 of usable risk capital.
That distinction helps when selecting an account. Compare the drawdown budget with the strategy’s normal adverse movement and position size. The largest nominal account is not automatically the appropriate choice, and the maximum contract allowance is a ceiling rather than an instruction to use that size.
Current account sizes and pricing
The regular monthly evaluation prices shown in the official account selector are below. Promotional discounts and activation-fee waivers are separate offers, and should be checked against their current conditions. The monthly test subscription is distinct from the one-time PRO activation fee.
| Test size | Regular monthly price | Profit target | Maximum position | Trailing drawdown |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| $25,000 | $150 | $1,500 | 3 minis or 30 micros | $1,500 |
| $50,000 | $170 | $3,000 | 6 minis or 60 micros | $2,000 |
| $75,000 | $245 | $4,500 | 9 minis or 90 micros | $2,500 |
| $100,000 | $330 | $6,000 | 12 minis or 120 micros | $3,000 |
| $150,000 | $360 | $9,000 | 15 minis or 150 micros | $4,500 |
The website lists the ordinary PRO activation charge as $130 once, rather than a recurring funded-account subscription. A current promotion may change what a particular purchase pays, but that does not change the normal price table. For current offer information, use our TakeProfit Trader profile.
Evaluation subscriptions continue while the test remains active. Before buying, distinguish the subscription charge, a reset, activation and any later account costs. A reset should not be assumed to restart the subscription’s billing anniversary. Review the checkout and cancellation terms for the specific purchase rather than relying on an older discount article.
Budget the evaluation by calendar time as well as account size. A trader who expects to work through the test over several billing cycles should account for those recurring charges. Keep a copy of the checkout terms and confirm how cancellation works before starting. This makes it easier to compare the total fee exposure with a firm that uses a one-time evaluation purchase. The Apex and TakeProfit Trader comparison helps separate each firm's account stages, fees and payout conditions.
Test, PRO and PRO+ compared
| Stage | Trading environment | Drawdown basis | Profit split | Withdrawal structure |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Test | Simulated | End-of-day trailing | No payout split | No withdrawals |
| PRO | Simulated | Intraday trailing, including unrealized gains | 80% trader / 20% firm | Withdraw eligible profits above the buffer |
| PRO+ | Live | End-of-day trailing | 90% trader / 10% firm | No ordinary PRO buffer requirement |
PRO+ is a reviewed transition, not a product that every trader reaches after one fixed profit threshold. The official upgrade guidance considers trading behavior, risk management and other factors. It also involves broker onboarding and documentation. The nominal size of the passed test should not be confused with the starting cash balance of a new live account.
The PRO+ transition guidance says the new account begins at a $0 balance with the original account’s drawdown allowance. It also describes retaining $5,000 of PRO profit while PRO+ is active. Those transition arrangements are separate from the everyday PRO+ statement that withdrawals do not use the ordinary PRO buffer. Read the transition terms before treating all existing simulated profit as immediately available.

Evaluation drawdown and daily loss rules
The test’s minimum account balance follows the highest end-of-day balance upward. It stops trailing once the minimum reaches the original starting balance. Although the reference point updates at the end of the day, touching the established minimum through realized or unrealized losses can still fail the account during a session.
For a $25,000 test, the initial minimum is $23,500 because the drawdown is $1,500. If a closing balance raises the reference point, the permitted minimum rises too. It does not move back down merely because the next day closes lower. This is why a trader should track the current minimum balance rather than subtracting the initial allowance from the latest balance each time.
The account selector shows the former daily loss limit as removed. That does not remove the maximum drawdown, position cap, approved-products rule or other account conditions. A missing daily loss limit is not permission to risk the entire nominal account balance.
Consistency and the minimum trading days
New tests purchased from 17 August 2026 use a minimum of three trading days. The official announcement distinguishes them from older purchases and resets, which may retain the five-day requirement. The account’s purchase history therefore matters; a general statement that every account now has identical minimum days would be misleading.
The current consistency article requires the largest profitable day to be below 50% of total net profit. This is a strict threshold, not simply “50% or less.” Reaching the normal dollar target does not satisfy the evaluation if the largest day still accounts for too much of the total.
Missing the consistency threshold does not by itself mean the test has failed. The official rule explains that the necessary profit goal adjusts and appears in the dashboard. The trader may need more net profit before qualifying. That should be described as an eligibility condition, rather than as a promise that another trade or day will complete the evaluation.
PRO drawdown, activity and news restrictions
PRO changes to intraday trailing drawdown. Its reference includes unrealized gains, so an open trade can raise the minimum before the gain is closed. A later reversal may reduce the remaining room even if the account still shows a profit compared with the start of the day.
PRO also requires at least one traded day per calendar week, Sunday through Friday. The help center defines a traded day as at least one round trip on a permitted instrument. Support may consider an exception for personal circumstances, but inactivity should not be assumed to be permitted without arranging it.
The news rule requires no open positions or working orders from one minute before, during and one minute after prohibited events. The named events include FOMC statements or announcements, Non-Farm Payrolls and CPI. Use the current trader calendar and rule wording, rather than assuming that every economic release has the same restriction or that only entering a new trade is prohibited.
Opposite-direction positions in the same or closely related products are restricted across account types. The permitted contract limits also apply to aggregate open exposure. Review the position calculation before combining minis and micros or several correlated futures contracts.
Payouts: the short version
PRO uses an 80/20 split and allows requests for eligible profits above the buffer without a separate minimum number of profitable days or a fixed payout window. PRO+ uses a 90/10 split and does not use the ordinary PRO buffer. The test itself does not produce withdrawals. Full buffer, withdrawal and transition details are in our TakeProfit Trader payout rules.
Processing has two stages. Eligible Tradovate PRO transfers from account to wallet can be automated in seconds. Rithmic PRO, PRO+ and some archived accounts still use manual handling. Moving money from the wallet to a payment method is a separate process, so a fast internal transfer is not a same-day bank-deposit guarantee.
The August 2026 processing update describes review of payment requests and bank-dependent delivery times. U.S. transfers may be real time or take one to two business days in some cases; international methods have their own processing. Treat those as published processing guidance, not an unconditional commitment for every request.
Platforms and data feeds
The official platform selector separates CQG-supported choices from Rithmic-supported choices. It lists NinjaTrader, TradingView and Tradovate on the CQG side, and RTrader, Quantower and MotiveWave on the Rithmic side. The complete available list and the selected account connection should be checked before choosing software.
A platform’s general support for a data feed is not enough to establish that a particular account can use every feature. Confirm login credentials, connection type and permissions for the purchased account. Keep the account environment clear when switching between test, PRO and live access.
Test the selected platform in simulation before relying on a multi-account workflow. Check contract symbols, order quantity and the way the software handles disconnects. Platform familiarity can reduce operational mistakes, but it does not change TakeProfit Trader’s trading or withdrawal rules.

Automation, copy trading and VPS rules
The PRO rules state: “We do not allow any automated or bot trading of any kind.” They also say: “All trades must be manually executed by the trader.” This is a restriction on trading activity. It should not be rewritten as a blanket claim that the firm bans VPS hosting.
The multi-account rules allow copying among the trader’s permitted accounts subject to account ownership, quantity and trading-policy conditions. Copying a manually entered trade is a different issue from running a strategy that independently chooses and submits trades. A copier does not provide an exception to the prohibition on automated strategies.
Before using any software, confirm that its operation fits the account’s current rules. Keep control of the accounts and avoid arrangements in which another person executes trades. Hosting location, remote access or software marketing does not establish permission to use a particular strategy.
Pros and limitations
The main practical strengths are the published account-size structure, one-step test, stated withdrawal eligibility above the PRO buffer and access to several familiar platforms. PRO+ also has a different live-account drawdown and split. Those features may suit a manual futures trader who understands the distinction between eligibility and payment delivery.
The main limitations are the recurring test cost, change from end-of-day to intraday drawdown in PRO, news and activity requirements, and the prohibition on bot trading. PRO+ depends on a review and onboarding process. A trader whose workflow relies on an automated strategy should resolve that mismatch before purchasing.
Who it suits and how to compare it
TakeProfit Trader is most relevant to manual futures traders who can operate within its drawdown, consistency and news rules. Choose an account by its usable risk allowance and subscription cost. Avoid selecting a larger nominal balance solely to obtain a larger contract ceiling.
Lucid offers a different set of plan choices and expressly permits automated systems subject to its policies. Our TakeProfit Trader versus Lucid comparison helps compare those structures. Check each plan and stage separately rather than treating either firm as one uniform ruleset.
For a broader shortlist, use our futures prop firms comparison. Compare drawdown, fees, strategy permissions and withdrawal conditions together. Neither a low entry fee nor a fast advertised payout establishes that a firm is appropriate for every trader.
Frequently asked questions
Is a TakeProfit Trader PRO account live?
PRO is simulated. PRO+ is the live stage. The official upgrade process includes a review and broker setup, so passing a test should not be described as an automatic transition straight into live trading.
How much does the evaluation cost?
Regular monthly prices are $150, $170, $245, $330 and $360 for the five test sizes. Discounts can alter an individual checkout. The ordinary $130 PRO activation fee is separate from the test subscription.
Can a new test be passed in three days?
Three trading days is the minimum for new purchases covered by the August 2026 change. The target, consistency and other rules must also be met. Older purchases or resets may retain different minimum-day terms.
Does PRO use end-of-day drawdown?
PRO uses intraday trailing drawdown, including unrealized gains. The test uses end-of-day trailing, and PRO+ uses an end-of-day structure. The stage matters as much as the nominal account size.
Can traders use bots or a copier?
The PRO rules prohibit automated or bot trading. Copying among permitted accounts is governed separately by the multi-account rules. Confirm the actual software behavior and ownership conditions rather than assuming that a copier permits automated strategy execution.
Are payouts guaranteed on the first day?
No. Day-one eligibility describes when a compliant PRO account with profits above its buffer may request a withdrawal. Account conditions, review where applicable and payment-method processing still determine what happens next.
